The 11th annual “Keeping The Lights On” fundraiser was conducted Saturday night at the North Webster Community Center. A silent auction, live auction, dinner and cash bar all were part of the event. The dinner was catered by Chubbie’s Pub N’ Grub in Syracuse and Brian Wuthrich, of Hahn Auctioneers, presided over the live auction. An added event this year was a solicitation of donations for the Jon Sroufe Memorial Fund, earmarked for air condition and roof repairs. Sroufe, a longtime NWCC board member and supporter, passed away this past year. No word yet on the total raised, but past events have raised $90,000. The event draws hundreds of participants each year, largely because of three top prizes offered during a drawing at the end of the evening. This year’s winners and prizes were: Glenn Meiser, of Lafayette, Grand Prize of a pontoon, a Polaris Ranger or $12,000 in cash; Cindy Underwood, Syracuse, $200 per month in groceries for a year at Lance’s New Market; and Rick and Cindy White, North Webster, $100 per month in gasoline for a year at North Webster Freedom Express. Pictured above is the crowded gym during the auction. Clicking on the dot below the photo will show Wuthrich acknowledging a bidder while auctioning off one of the featured items.
