A farm tractor driver was injured in a two-vehicle collision Wednesday morning.

James R. Earl, 83, Warsaw, complained of back pain after the accident and was taken to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, according to a news release from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office.

The driver of the other vehicle was not injured.

Emergency crews were dispatched to the 4900 block of West CR 200N in Harrison Township at 9:59 a.m. Wednesday to a collision involving a 1952 Ford 8N tractor, driven by Earl.

The preliminary results of the investigation indicate that a 2021 GMC Sierra, driven by Travis L. Heckaman, 35, Plymouth, was behind Earl’s tractor prior to the collision. The accident occurred when the front right corner of Heckaman’s pickup struck the rear left wheel of the tractor, as Earl’s tractor was beginning to turn into his driveway, the release states.

Earl was ejected from the tractor as it slid from the road into his yard.

The cause of the incident remains under investigation.
