A former supervisor accused of taking money from the cash drawer at Dollar Tree was arrested for theft.

Pepper M. Dickie, 44, of 4480 E. CR 450N, Leesburg, was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail at 12:43 a.m. Monday and faces one count of theft, a Class A misdemeanor.

According to the probable cause affidavit filed Sept. 6 in Kosciusko Superior Court II, Warsaw police officers were contacted by the store manager of Dollar Tree and were told that Dickie is a merchandising manager and had taken money on July 4. The store manager told police that the corporate human resource department at the Dollar Tree is reluctant to prosecute internal theft but that he was directed to begin doing so.

Court papers state Dickie was responsible for the cash drawers on July 4 and that her drawer was short $220.

Police interviewed Dickie on July 9 and she denied taking the money. On July 12, Dickie resigned from her job. The store manager told police he believes Dickie took an additional $115 days after the original incident.

Dickie’s bond was set at $600. She’s due in court at 1 p.m. Monday.
