CLAYPOOL - Through an asset purchase agreement adopted Tuesday evening, the Claypool Town Council resolved to sell the town's water utility to Indiana American Water.
Council President Benny Stage Jr. said the offer is less than the appraised value of the water utility but that selling is the best long-term decision.
A utility study for the town's water and wastewater systems is being conducted by Commonwealth Engineers Inc. of Crown Point. Business development manager Chris Harrison introduced master engineer of Commonwealth's Fort Wayne office, Ben Adams, at the meeting.
Donny Ritsema, of the Michiana Area Council of Governments (MACOG), provided information on the Forward Kosciusko County Comprehensive Plan, which the Council adopted through a resolution.
In other new business, the Council approved an agreement with Kosciusko County, not to exceed $2,500, to administer the 2023 election.
The Council will next meet at 7 p.m. July 19.
