Early this morning police apprehended the suspect wanted in connection to Saturday’s bank robbery in Pierceton.

Pierceton Police Chief Tim Sammons said Warsaw Police received a tip at around 4:30 a.m. today that Jeffery Lee Brewer, 34, of Kendallville, was staying in a room at the Holiday Inn Express, 3825 Lake City Highway, Warsaw.

Officers responded to the hotel, confirmed Brewer was in a room, and then had a “back-and-forth” conversation with him via cellphone before he turned himself in at about 7 a.m. today.

Sammons said Brewer was cooperative and confessed to the bank robbery, a level 5 felony.

“We had good police cooperation from the Warsaw Police Department, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department and Pierceton Police,” Sammons said.

He thanked the public for the tips that led to Brewer’s arrest. “I just want the public to know we appreciate their help,” Sammons said.

Brewer’s preliminary bond was set at $10,250.

At 11:40 a.m. Saturday, a robbery at Lake City Bank in Pierceton was reported through a 911 call. An undisclosed amount of money was taken.

A Pierceton officer arrived at the bank within a minute, but the suspect had already fled.

The suspect’s vehicle was recovered Saturday afternoon.

Brewer has had several arrests prior to this incident.
