The Wagon Wheel Theatre will have youth auditions for its summer season productions of “The Wizard of Oz,” “The Music Man” and “Big, The Musical.”

Interested youth ages 8-18 can plan to attend auditions May 1 at the Wagon Wheel Center for the Arts, 2515 E. Center St., Warsaw.

Ages 8-10 will audition are 9:30 a.m.; 11-13 at 11 a.m.; and 13-18 at 12:30 p.m.

There is no need to prepare for anything, as staff will be teaching a short music selection for the audition. Students must be available for all rehearsal days and performances. For “The Wizard of Oz,” school schedules will be worked around, but staff will not be able to accommodate any conflicts. Visit the website for exact performance dates and times.

“The Wizard of Oz” rehearsal and performance dates are May 15-June 12, and boys and girls ages 8-15 must be shorter than 5 feet tall.

“The Music Man” rehearsal and performance dates are June 17-July 10, and is casting for one girl age 8-12 to play Amaryllis; one boy age 7-11 to play Winthrop; and four to five boys ages 8-12 for the ensemble.

“Big, The Musical” rehearsal and performance dates are July 1-July 24. One boy age 11-15 will be cast as Billy; one boy age 11-15 will be cast for Young Josh; and a teen ensemble will be cast with ages 11-18.

Furthermore, the Wagon Wheel Theatre is holding auditions for Toto in “The Wizard of Oz.”

All small breed dogs are encouraged to audition. Rehearsals will be May 18-May 31, with performances June 1-12.

Dogs submitting must have proof of up-to-date vaccinations, be comfortable around large crowds, have good temperament with strangers and children and be able to be picked up and held. Dogs who can obey sit and stay commands are a bonus, and a handler being present at the times of rehearsal and performances in not necessary.

Pay is in “love and treats,” according to a news release. Owners will get free tickets to the show.
