NAPPANEE – The Round Barn Theatre is proud to present the final show of its 2021 season, “A Musical Christmas Carol,” a brand-new adaptation of Charles Dickens’ beloved tale.

With a script and original music and lyrics by RBT Executive Producer Christy Stutzman, and directed by guest director Susan DeLeon, this is a show you won’t want to miss, according to a news release from the theater.

Told in a classic way and true to the original story by Charles Dickens, the new original production brings to life the timeless characters of the miserly, bitter and selfish Ebenezer Scrooge, his nephew Fred who seeks to be a light to Scrooge, the ever-optimistic and grateful Bob Cratchit, his joyful family and Tiny Tim with his faith and love for everyone and many more.

Performances continue through Dec. 31. The performance schedule includes 7:30 p.m. performances on Fridays and Saturdays, and 2 p.m. performances on Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Performances will be held at The Round Barn Theatre at The Barns at Nappanee, 1600 W. Market St., Nappanee.

Ticket prices range from $15.95 to $37.95, with $67.95 dinner packages available for dining at the The Barns Restaurant.

On Dec. 18, The Barns at Nappanee is hosting A Dinner with Dickens, a dinner, show and character experience. Come enjoy a gourmet, authentic British-style Christmas feast with all the trimmings, including Mrs. Cratchit’s famous Christmas pudding. Guests will be entertained by costumed carolers singing traditional Christmas carols. Charles Dickens will make an appearance during the meal to share a little of his story, take photos and sign autographs.

Then, travel through the courtyard to enjoy a live performance of “A Musical Christmas Carol” at the historic Round Barn Theatre. The theater is planning to be sold out that evening and are looking at another date in December to provide an extra night of the experience.

Caleb Shaw stars in the lead role as Ebenezer Scrooge and has been featured with his wife Jaclyn (Mrs. Cratchit) in other RBT shows such as Mountie Jack Delaney and Elizabeth Thatcher in “When Calls The Heart, The Musical,” and most recently as Professor Friedrich Bhaer and Jo March in “Little Women, the Broadway Musical.”

Matthew Ollson and Erin Tierney, who recently appeared in “When Calls the Heart: The Musical” and “Little Women, the Broadway Musical” return to the stage to deliver a performance as Bob Cratchit, the jovial Mr. Fezziwig and Belle.

Hope Nofziger (Aunt March in “Little Women”) delivers another riveting and side-splitting performance as Mrs. Dilber and Mrs. Fezziwig, the news release states.

It is the largest cast RBT has had for any production this year and includes local youth performers, Addison Hannah, Ellie Hannah, Mason Norton, Raife Ramsey, (reprising his role as Tiny Tim) and Nolan Hannah as the Cratchit children and other roles.

RBT's “A Musical Christmas Carol” was performed for the first time in 2020 and is quickly becoming a tradition, according to the release.

With a brand-new musical score including 20 original songs composed by Stutzman, orchestrations by John E. Coates (Nashville), set design and stage direction by guest Director Susan DeLeon (California), choreography created and designed by Molly Hill, and music direction by Sandra Hill (Goshen), you won't want to miss this exciting new production that the whole family can enjoy, according to the release.
