Oil Painters of America has notified local artist Steve Creighton that his painting “Peonies and Pottery” has been juried into their 31st Annual National Juried Exhibition of Traditional Oils in Steamboat Springs, Colo. The exhibit accepted entries from OPA members residing in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Creighton’s painting was one of 200 accepted entries from the thousands entered and one of two Indiana artists’ paintings juried into the exhibit. The exhibit will take place from June 3 through Aug. 27 at the Steamboat Art Museum. The awarding juror is Master Signature OPA member Johanna Harmon. Harmon will award approximately $100,000 in cash and merchandise to winners at the opening reception on June 3. Creighton grew up in Atwood and majored in both art and business at Valparaiso University as an undergraduate and continued his art education with graduate art courses at Indiana University. His studio is in Warsaw. His paintings are held by collectors throughout the country. He is a “Signature” member of National Oil & Acrylic Painters’ Society and Hoosier Salon, and a member of Oil Painters of America, American Impressionist Society and Fort Wayne Art Guild.
