Magnolia Cooking Club is comparing the uses of fresh herbs versus dried herbs in cooking at 4 p.m. Wednesday at Syracuse Public Library, 115 E. Main St.

Now is the time to plan the kitchen garden to grow savory herbs that go with summer produce. Fresh herbs can make a huge difference in the flavor of even old family favorite recipes.

Easter Craft

There is still time to register for April’s Easter craft. The cute little baskets are getting paint and decorations on at 6 p.m. April 17. Take one home for the weekend.

Teen Things

Dungeons and Dragons is popular with young people and a group meets on Mondays, April 8 and April 15, at 4:30 p.m. Anime and Teen Gaming meet later in the month for some screen time. Teen video gaming is on April 18 at 5 p.m. Japanese film night is April 25 at 5 p.m.

A new Nintendo Switch is here for children to play on Tuesday at 5 p.m.  School-age children are invited to play against each other.

Yarn Crafting

Take an hour or two to meet knitters and crocheters while working on your own on Thursdays at 5 p.m. Enthusiastic crafters want to keep on their projects and enjoy catching up each week.

National Library Week

National Library Week is the second week in April and is a time to reflect on our ability to access information, meet freely in public places and use new technology.

Remind friends and neighbors that anyone living in the Turkey Creek Township is eligible for an Evergreen card.

Card Gone?

The Syracuse Library is replacing lost or damaged library cards for free beginning Monday through April 13. The Syracuse Library switched to the green cards in 2009 and many cards are pretty worn and normally cost $2 to replace.

Amnesty Week

Amnesty week is an annual event where Syracuse Library books, movies and audio books are returned with no overdue fees. Automatic renewals help most people avoid overdue charges, but this is a great time to return long-overdue items as all associated late fees are removed.

Horn In Stories

Tickets are on sale for the annual Friends salad bar luncheon on May 2 at 11:30 a.m.

Sharing historical and personal stories about the French horn are Erin Yoder and Kim Blaha. Both musicians play in local orchestras, ensembles and in the orchestra pit for musicals.
