The following activities and programs are planned for April at the Akron Carnegie Public Library, 205 E. Rochester St.

• Celebrate National Library Week (April 7-13) by participating in our fugitive book characters scavenger hunt.

Book characters will be hiding throughout the lib-rary. Find all of the characters and receive a reward.

• The Kids Book Club will meet from 4 to 5 p.m. Tuesday. For ages 8-12. Free book journals and fun activities.

• Preschool Story Hour resumes again at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Each week, enjoy stories, crafts, finger plays, snacks and lots of fun activities for children ages 3-6. The theme for this spring is Let’s Talk About the Weather.

• Chain Gang Knitting and Crocheting Group from 2 to 4 p.m. April 16. New members are always welcome.

• Join our next Dish It Up Recipe Exchange Club at 6 p.m. April 16. The theme for this month will be salads. Sign up is required. Please call the library at 574-893-4113 for more information.

 • Adult Crafty Corner mets at 6 p.m. April 25. Our project for this month is a Mother’s Day flower and garden tin. There is no cost for this project, but you must sign up in order to participate. Contact the library at 574-893-4113 for more information.

• Lego Club will meet at 4 p.m. April 29. Children ages 5 and up are encouraged to attend.

* Have an out-of-this-world adventure this summer by participating in our 2019 Summer Reading Program “A Universe of Stories.”

There will be lots of programs and prizes for ages 3 and up, including an opportunity to visit our portable planetarium. Try your hand with our very own teen and adult escape room, meet lots of great animals with our friends from Silly Safaris, enjoy Professor Steve’s Space and Flight Show, participate in Astronaut Training Day, take a Spacewalk, create your own Rocket, join our Splashdown Party and more.
