AKRON - The Akron Las Donas Club has received a grant from the Northern Indiana Community Foundation to present live music in the downtown Community Park in Akron for a second year.

They have five bands coming for free outdoor concerts for the community.

The first is June 9 with The Hwy-30 Band playing rock tunes.

The second is Beez and the Rocker on July 14. They are an acoustic duo providing a unique blend of ukulele driven rock and roll, both originals and covers.

On Aug. 11, Gunslinger will be rocking their country music.

On Aug. 25, Island Vibe will take listeners to the islands with their steel drums and tropical music.

And then to round out the series, The Noise performs Sept. 8. They play a variety of classic rock from the ’70s, ’80s and ’90s.

The bands will be performing from 6 to 9 p.m.

Attendees are encouraged to grab takeout from any of the local restaurants, bring a lawn chair or blanket, a few friends and enjoy an evening of live music.
