COLUMBIA CITY — Roy L. Ousley, 71, Pierceton, passed away unexpectedly at 6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7, 2018, at UP Health Systems, Marquette, Mich., while on an annual hunting trip.

Born July 5, 1947, in Prestonsburg, Ky., he was the son of Homer and Lurannie Ousley Ousley.

When he was a freshman his family moved to Pierceton, and he graduated from Pierceton High School with the Class of 1965. Roy went on to receive his associate degree at International Business College and bachelor's degree from Indiana Wesleyan University.

On Aug. 17, 1968, he married Rebecca "Becky" J. Gebert in Larwill. They would move to Flora, where he worked at Yeager & Sullivan before moving back to their farm in Pierceton in 1979.

Aside from farming, he had worked as a controller for United Technology, PTG and Dana, and retired in 2014 from Wabash Valley.

Roy was an avid hunter and fisherman, and loved his family, his Corvettes and traveling with his wife. He was a member of the Lions Club, Ducks Unlimited and National Wild Turkey Federation.

Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, Becky Ousley; sons, Pastor Kevin (Pam) Ousley, Columbia City, and Rod (Shelly) Ousley, Columbia City; grandchildren: Brey Ousley, Blake Ousley, Clay Ousley, Kylee Ousley and Emma Ousley; and brothers, Homer Ousley Jr., North Manchester, and Jerry Ousley, Larwill.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters-in-law Linda Ousley and Marcia Ousley.

Visitation is from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12, at DeMoney-Grimes, a Life Story Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with visitation starting one hour prior. Pastor Kevin Ousley will be officiating. Burial to follow at Hillcrest Cemetery.
