L. Dean Blanton, 76, Warsaw, passed away at 9:09 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7, 2018, in Lutheran Hospital of Indiana, Fort Wayne.

He was born Sept. 8, 1942, in Paintsville, Ky., to Estil and Dorthy Caudill Blanton. He was a lifelong resident of Warsaw.

On May 25, 1962, he was united in marriage to Lois Hively in Atwood.

He worked at Dalton Foundry as a core maker and retired after 45 years of service.

Dean was a man of faith and loved God. In addition, he enjoyed yardwork, and sports in general, especially Kentucky basketball. He loved his family dearly, and the love he had for his grandsons in particular held a special place in his heart.

He is survived by his wife, Lois Blanton, Warsaw; son, Larry (spouse Sharon) Blanton, Warsaw; sister, Lois (spouse Bill) Slone, Claypool; brother, Gene (spouse Sue) Blanton, Packerton; grandsons: Michael (spouse Gavin) Blanton, Warsaw; Darren Burchett (fiancée Melissa Rice), Warsaw; and Eric (spouse Kerissa) Blanton, Marietta, Ga.; and great-stepgrandchildren, Abigail and Zidion Rose.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; one brother; and one daughter, Wendy Burchett.

A funeral service will be at noon Friday, Oct. 12, in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw, with Brother Tim Slone officiating.

Visitation will be two hours prior to the service, from 10 a.m. to noon in McHatton-Sadler Funeral Chapel, Warsaw.

Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
