NORTH MANCHESTER – James A. Endress, 73, Warsaw, died at 5:20 a.m. Monday, Nov. 4, 2019, at Mason Health Care, Warsaw.

He was born Nov. 19, 1945, in Wabash, to Charles and Martha Lawrence Endress. He married Vicki L. Davis on Oct. 2, 1976. She passed away Aug. 20, 2018.

He started working in maintenance at the Bowen Center in 1988 and at Kosciusko Community Hospital when it opened, and later retired in 2005.

He was a member of Eel River Community Church of the Brethren, Silver Lake.

For 30 years, James worked on different firearms for people. James was a gentle soul who was thoughtful and kind, not only to Vicki, but also to her sons who became his sons as well. His positive nature was infectious to those around him. Simply put, he brought out the best in everyone. James was a person who could have a conversation with anyone he met. He had a deep understanding and knowledge about him, but he was sincere and gracious to all, especially to his children and grandchildren. For fun, James relished in his time capturing the world through his camera.

He is survived by sons, Tom (Janet) White, Warsaw; Scott (Bonnie) White, Elkhart; Richard (Carolyn) White, Kendallville; Jamie (Michele) White, Syracuse; brothers, Thomas (Nancy) Endress, Bridgewater, Va.; Richard (Sharon) Endress, Loganville, Ga.; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Calling hours will be from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7 at McKee Mortuary, 1401 Ind. 114 West, North Manchester. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7 at the funeral home with Pastor Denny Bollenbacher officiating. Burial will be at Ulrey Memorial Cemetery, Silver Lake.
