SYRACUSE – Fred Lamar Curtis, 90, of Syracuse, passed away at 3:48 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2021, at his home.

He was born on Jan. 25, 1930, in Nappanee, to Ora and Hazel Curtis.

He graduated from Nappanee High School, was a United States Army veteran and was a lifetime Nappanee/Syracuse area resident. He was married on March 26, 1983, in South Bend, to Eva E. Habler Skelton, who survives, and was the former owner/operator of Curtis TV & Appliance in Nappanee for over 50 years.

He was a member of the Calvary United Methodist Church in Syracuse and formerly attended Church of the Brethren in Nappanee.

He is survived by wife, Eva Curtis, of Syracuse; daughter, Kellie (Brian) Curtis-Malone, of Granger; two sons: Barton (Sara) Curtis, of Warsaw; and Christopher Curtis, of Osceola; 13 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; stepdaughter, Michele (Jonathan) Mishler, of Syracuse; two stepsons: Mark Skelton, of Pennsylvania; and Robert Skelton, of Bristol.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Darin Curtis; and two brothers, Dan and Ken Curtis.

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 11 at Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 12 in the funeral home with Pastor David Henry officiating. Cremation will follow at Cremation Services of Kosciusko County, 4356 N. Ind. 15, Warsaw.
