Eugene 'Gene' E. Williamson

COLUMBIA CITY – Eugene “Gene” E. Williamson, 92, of Larwill, died at 3:55 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 14, 2021, at Miller’s Oak Pointe, Columbia City, where he had been a resident since August of 2019.
He was born April 4, 1928, in Richland Township, Whitley County, a son of the late Seth and Jennie Leatherman Williamson. He grew up on a farm in Richland Township and graduated from Larwill High School in 1946.
On Aug. 27, 1949, he married Mary Frances Souder. They made their home at Tri-Lakes until 1960, when they moved to Larwill. Mary died on July 18, 1987.
After high school, he began working at the Woolen Mill, Columbia City. He then went to work for Whitley Products, Columbia City, moving to their Pierceton location, where he retired with 36 years of service.
He liked fishing at the area lakes and made an annual trip fishing trip to Minnesota. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and trapping. A collector of pottery, he attended area auctions looking for prized pieces or other treasures.
Surviving children are Michael E. Williamson, of Warsaw; and Diane L. (Kent) Biller, of Osceola; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Additionally, he was preceded in death by brothers, Glen, Clifford and Kenneth Williamson; sisters, Mildred Desper and Dorothy Williamson; and a grandson, Jason Biller.
The funeral service is 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 17 at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City. Burial is at Lake View Cemetery, Larwill. Visitation is from noon until the service Sunday at the funeral home.
