Betty Lou Higgins

Betty Lou Higgins, of Warsaw, went home to be with the Lord, surrounded by her loved ones, at 4:47 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 23, 2023, at Wynnfield Crossing Assisted Living in Rochester at the age of 91.
She was born on Feb. 28, 1931, in Etna Green, to Mary Marguerite Austin Stackhouse and O. Paul Stackhouse. Betty was a lifetime resident of Kosciusko County, where she was a 1949 graduate of Bourbon High School. At the young age of 19, Betty knew she wanted to spend her life with Willard DeLoss Higgins, and they were married on March 26, 1950. They were blessed with almost 60 years of marriage together before Willard passed away on Jan. 17, 2010.
Betty was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be dearly missed. She was devoted to the Lord, her church and friends.
She leaves behind her son, Patrick (Kristi) Higgins, Warsaw; two daughters, Meri (Fred) Jessup, Benbrook, Texas; and Melana (David) Smith, Rochester. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Anita (Mike) Williamson, Etna Green; and her brother, Brad (Jo) Stackhouse, Plymouth. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Paula Blyth; grandson, Lance David Smith; and her brother, Dr. Keith L. Stackhouse.
Betty’s life will be celebrated with a private family service at a later date. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw. Arrangements were entrusted to Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw.
