Trojans Win Trench-Burner Over Dragons In Non-Conference Play

 

BOURBON – Tyson Yates had a key three-point play down the stretch, then hit a pair of free throws with 1.1 seconds remaining to insure Triton’s 47-44 win over Argos in a non-conference matchup of Marshall County boys basketball teams Thursday night.
Yates finished with 14 points, including a 5-of-6 effort from the free throw line, most of which came in the last minute of the contest. Ashton Oviedo added 10 points for Triton.
Tyler Heckaman was close to a double-double with eight points and a game-high 10 rebounds. Quentin Amsden had five points and Hunter McIntyer added three points for the Trojans.
Sam Manikowski had a game-high 17 points for the visiting Dragons.
In the junior varsity game, Bruce Johnson had 15 points and Connor Large added 10 points for Triton in its 46-32 victory over Argos. Chandler Westafer had six points, with Lucas Cabrera, Cameron Shively and Nate Amsden adding four points each.
Now 9-6, Triton returns to Hoosier North Athletic Conference play Saturday, hosting Caston at 2:30 p.m. in The Trench.

Area Postponements
Several area athletic contests were postponed due to weather considerations Thursday.
Games, with make-up dates, were:
• North Miami at Whitko boys basketball, makeup date to be determined.
• Manchester at Northfield boys basketball, makeup date TBD.
• Wawasee gymnastics at DeKalb, may or may not be made up.
• Lakeview MS vs. Edgewood girls basketball, moved to Feb. 18.
