Wawasee Wrestlers Easily Handle St. Joseph Indians

SYRACUSE – Wawasee’s wrestlers dropped just two matches in their 72-9 win over visiting South Bend St. Joseph Thursday night.

Winners for the Warriors were Keegan Stuckman, Hunter Miller, Dylan Tom, Corbin Dilley, Brendan Dilley, Gavin Malone, Tim Shortt, Garrett Stuckman, Logan Baugh, Fernando Hernandez, Austin Lajoice and Quinton Spitzmacher.

Now 21-5, Wawasee will compete in Saturday’s Northern Lakes Conference tournament at Plymouth Jan. 25.

Tigers Trim RedHawks

Warsaw closed out its Northern Lakes Conference wrestling regular season Thursday night with a 41-33 win over visiting Goshen.

Tiger winners were Liam Nolin, Jacob Linky, Brandon Estepp, Mario Cortes, Brock Hueber, Andrew Ross and Isaiah Owens won the night’s final match to give Warsaw the win.

Junior varsity winners for Warsaw were Grant Cook, Bryson Brown, Austin Brown, Ariel Herrera, Jayton Brock, Alex Jordan and William Loeza.

Warsaw (17-4 overall, 5-2 NLC) will compete in the Garrett Invitational on Saturday.

Squires Sweep Trojans

NORTH MANCHESTER – Benefitting from seven forfeits Thursday, Manchester won all 14 matches in a 81-0 win over visiting Triton in a non-conference wrestling match.

Dylan Stroud (126 pounds), Elijah Burlingame (132), Dominic Lincoln (138), Zach France (145) Jacob Caudill (170) and Albin Lederhilger (182) all won by fall. Jordan Ayres (152) won by decision. Collin Cummins (106), Brock Casper (113), Haley Clifford (120), Peyton Addair (160), Ashton Moore (195), Trevor Dill (220) and Bryce Kamphues (285) won via forfeit.

In junior varsity matches, Raven King (132) and A.J. Fortman (138) were winners for Manchester.

Clifford wrestles in the girls state meet in Kokomo tonight. The rest of the squad is off until the Three Rivers Conference tournament Jan. 25.

Triton hosts Northfield on Wednesday.

Wildcats Fall To LPC

SOUTH WHITLEY – Elizabeth Miller had 12 points and three rebounds, with Kylie Fugett adding eight points and a pair of rebounds for Whitko in its 30-23 non-conference girls basketball loss to visiting Lakewood Park Christian Thursday night.

Morgan Howard had three points and a team-high nine rebounds.

The Wildcats (1-11) hosts Southwood for a Three Rivers Conference game Saturday.
