Whitko/Tippecanoe Valley at Sectional

Whitko and Tippecanoe Valley were the two teams tasked with opening play at IHSAA Sectional 52 at Warsaw Community High School Wednesday afternoon. The Wildcats defeated the Vikings 3-2 to continue their season and advance to the semifinals.

Whitko took victories in all three singles matches. No. 3 singles player Blake Schroeder was dominant in his victory, winning 6-1, 6-0. No. 1 singles player David Ousley came back after losing his first set to Valley’s Dylan Neese 2-6 to win the next two sets 6-2.

Cody Smith and Annikan Pettit won their No. 1 doubles match 6-1, 6-2 for the Vikings. Whitko advanced and faced off with Warsaw on Thursday, while Wawasee and Columbia City met on the other side of the bracket. More to come in tomorrow’s paper.



Boys Soccer

North Miami at Manchester

Manchester dropped its second straight game to wrap up its regular season Wednesday, falling 2-1 to North Miami at home. The Squires finished the regular season with an 11-4-1 record and in second place in the Three Rivers Conference with a 4-2 mark.

Michael Ortiz scored the Squires only goal of the match for his 22nd of the season. Manchester begins sectional play in the semifinal of 2A Sectional 22 on Wednesday. The Squires await the winners of a match between Tippecanoe Valley and Wabash.



Girls Soccer

Manchester at Peru

Manchester won its fifth straight game on Wednesday, defeating Peru 3-0 on the road. The Lady Squires are now 8-5-2 and are in sole possession of first place in the TRC with a 5-0 record.

Hannah Eberly scored two goals for Manchester while Jessica Perez added the third. The Lady Squires open sectional play with Wabash on Thursday.
