SOUTH WHITLEY – In a Class 2A sectional preview, the fourth-ranked Whitko Lady Wildcats blanked Three Rivers Conference rival Wabash 6-0 Monday evening in high school softball action.

Whitko will face the Lady Apaches later this month in the six-team sectional at Oak Hill. The IHSAA released the tournament pairings on Sunday.

In Monday’s win, the Lady Wildcats outhit Wabash 11-2, and the hosts wasted no time lighting up the scoreboard.

Whitko scored two runs in the first inning and led 4-0 by the end of the third before scoring a pair of runs in the fifth.

With the win, the Lady Wildcats improved to 12-2 overall and 3-0 in the TRC standings. Rochester is 8-7 overall and 4-0 in the TRC. Whitko will host the Lady Zebras in a key matchup Wednesday.

At the plate, Snep belted a pair of doubles, as did teammate Reannon Hopkins.

Wabash, the only team winless in TRC play, fell to 2-10 overall and 0-4.
