Staff Report
Sunday, October 17, 2021 11:00 PM
BOURBON – Triton did not drop a set in rolling to a second straight volleyball sectional title Saturday in the Trojan Trench. The Lady Trojans downed West Central 25-13, 25-15, 25-16 in the morning semifinal session, then beat Oregon-Davis 25-20, 25-18, 25-14 for the trophy.
“It was just a good week. We thought we played well in the first match, then coming out this morning I thought West Central was inspired a little bit and played well,” said Triton assistant coach Tony Plothow. We knew O-D played well this week, and our girls were ready to go. We told them to be ready for the unexpected. (Oregon-Davis) had some unorthodox passes and we did a lot of good things. I’m proud of them.”
Triton (23-11) will face Kouts (25-7) in the second semifinal of the Culver Community Regional at about 12:30 p.m. Saturday. Fort Wayne Blackhawk (22-11) and Southwood (28-5) play in the first semifinal at 10:30 a.m.
Semifinal winners will face off at 7 p.m. for the regional title and a berth in the semistate round.
