NORTH MANCHESTER – Friday’s high school boys basketball game between Manchester and Wawasee was a case of balance vs. imbalance.

The Manchester Squires had five scorers, including two who reached double figures, while Wawasee had two scorers.

In this case, balance won out, and the host Squires won 39-28.

Manchester (2-0) led 10-9 after the first quarter, and the game was tied at 17 at halftime.

However, Manchester held the Warriors (0-3) to just 11 second-half points, while scoring 22 of its own for the double-digit victory.

Wawasee’s Bennett Hoffert led all scorers with 24 points, including six three-pointers. Josh Slabaugh was the Warriors’ only other scorer, with four points.

Weston Hamby scored a team-high 15 points for the Squires, while Brayden Casper had 10 and Kamdyn Lester added seven.

Manchester will play Friday at DeKalb, while Wawasee will host West Noble tonight.
