Boys Tennis
Warsaw/Wawasee/Whitko at Sectional
Three area schools competed in the second round of IHSAA Sectional 52 at Warsaw Community High School Thursday. Warsaw advanced to the sectional championship with a 3-2 victory over Whitko, while Wawasee fell 4-1 to Columbia City.
Whitko’s David Ousley won his second match in as many days at the No. 1 singles position, defeating Warsaw’s Ted Grandon 4-6, 6-0, 6-1. Warsaw’s Keller Bailey took a win in No. 2 singles, defeating Allesandro Uncini 6-1, 6-2. Warsaw won both doubles matches to clinch the win.
Wawasee’s Kane Dukes was the Warriors’ lone winner on the day, taking his No. 3 singles match by a score of 6-3, 6-1. Warsaw will face off with Columbia City Saturday morning for the sectional championship.
Volleyball
Tippecanoe Valley at Wabash
Tippecanoe Valley dropped a conference game at Wabash Thursday, falling 3-0 (12-25, 8-25, 12-25). The Lady Vikings are now 9-12 this fall, 2-5 in the Three Rivers Conference. Tippecanoe Valley hosts Rochester Tuesday.
Mishawaka at Wawasee
Wawasee is still searching for its first conference win of the year after falling 3-1 (16-25, 16-25, 25-20, 17-25) to Mishawaka Thursday. The Warriors are 15-10 this season, 0-6 in the Northern Lakes Conference. Wawasee will compete at the Dunes Invitational this Saturday.
Southwood at Manchester
Manchester dropped a conference match to Southwood Thursday, falling 3-0 (8-25, 18-25, 19-25) at home. The Lady Squires are now 9-14, 3-5 in the TRC.
McKelvey Espeset and Olivia Davis each had five kills for Manchester. Espeset also had three blocks. Paxton Baker contributed 18 digs. Manchester hosts Wabash on Tuesday.
Triton at South Bend Career Academy
Triton picked up a victory on the road Thursday, beating South Bend Career Academy 3-0 (25-10, 25-23, 25-8). The Trojans are now 15-9 this fall.
Addyson Viers had 17 kills to lead all players. Viers also had three blocks and eight digs. Kinsey Atkins and Jenna Bules each had four aces. Hannah Snyder had 20 assists.
Triton competes at the Dunes Invitational Saturday.
Boys Soccer
LaVille at Tippecanoe Valley
Tippecanoe Valley won its ninth straight game Thursday, crushing LaVille 8-0 at home. The Vikings are now 12-3 this season.
Jonathan Ruiz had four goals as well as two assists for Tippy Valley. Gio Arriaga contributed two scores. Christian Ramirez also scored a goal. The Vikings end their regular season Saturday against South Bend Washington.
Wawasee at Plymouth
It was a tough loss for Wawasee Thursday, losing 10-1 on the road to Plymouth. The Warriors are now 6-9-1 this fall, 1-5-1 in the NLC.
Quentin Taylor scored the lone Wawasee goal. Wawasee begins sectional play Monday against West Noble.
Girls Soccer
Warsaw at Northridge
Warsaw girls soccer got back into the win column with a 1-0 victory over Northridge on the road Thursday. The win clinched the NLC Championship for the Tigers after the team finished the campaign with a perfect 7-0 record. Warsaw is 11-4-2 this fall.
Lola Pepper scored the lone goal in the match. Warsaw begins sectional play Tuesday against Fort Wayne Northrop.
NorthWood at Wawasee
Wawasee ended its regular season with a 2-0 loss to NorthWood Thursday. The Warriors go into the playoffs with a 1-12-3 record, 0-7 in the NLC. Wawasee will play a rematch with NorthWood Tuesday to kick off sectionals.
