Wawasee Swimmers Sweep NLC Foe Memorial

ELKHART – Wawasee’s girls swim team won every event, sweeping the top three spots in a trio of races, and the Warrior boys were dominant in Northern Lakes Conference wins over Elkhart Memorial. The Lady Warriors had a 136-33 victory, while the boys took a 103.5-66.5 decision.

The Lady Warriors had three double winners; Ella Park in the 200 and 500 freestyle, Rileigh Atwood in the 200 IM and 100 breaststroke, and Alyssa Koch in the 100 free and 100 backstroke. Wawasee swept the top three spots in the 200 IM, the 100 free and the 100 breaststroke.

The Warrior boys had a trio of double winners as well. Jared Krugman won the 200 and 500 free, Brady Robinson the 100 IM and 100 free, and Spencer Naugler led Warrior event sweeps by winning the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke.

The Warrior boys improved to 2-0  overall and in the conference, and the Lady Warriors to 1-2 overall and 1-1 in the NLC. Both squads return to conference competition Dec. 5 at Concord.

Wawasee Falls To West Noble

LIGONIER – Wawaseee was outscored 16-1 in the second quarter, and West Noble went on to a 52-37 non-conference girls basketball win over the visiting Lady Warriors Tuesday night.

Hannah-Marie Lamle led the Lady Warriors with 10 points. West Noble’s Lauren Burns led all scorers with 11 points.

The Lady Chargers won the junior varsity game 34-30 over Wawasee. Ella Beezley had 11 points for the Lady Warriros.

Wawasee fell to 4-3 overall and will host South Bend Adams (0-6) Thursday at the Hardwood Tepee.

Lady Cougars Roll to Win

WINONA LAKE – Hope Fancil had 16 points, with Tori Calizo and Brady Gross recording double-doubles for Lakeland Christian in its 56-17 Hoosier Plains Conference girls basketball win over visiting South Bend Career Academy Tuesday night.

Calizo had 15 points and Gross added 10 for the Lady cougars. Both collected 12 rebounds in the game.

Anna Reimink had five points for LCA, with Jess Slone adding four and Jordan Gross, Abigial fishel and Avery Hobbs getting two points each. Reimink was credited with 22 assists in the contest.

The Lady Cougars (4-2, 2-0 HPC) play at Culver Community Friday night.



Tiger Wrestlers Fall To Elkhart Memorial

ELKHART – Warsaw won six matches but ultimately fell 45-36 to Elkhart Memorial in a Northern Lakes Conference wrestling meet Tuesday.

Isaiah Owens (106 pounds), Jose Martinez (113) and Gavin Truex (220) all collected wins by forfeit. Fernando Niebbia won at 120 when his opponent was disqualified. Brock Hueber earned a third-period pin at 195 and Dillon Estep (220) pinned his opponent in the second period.

Warsaw will compete in the Valpariaso Duals Saturday.
