Three Ranked Teams Highlight Bob Turner Classic

The Warsaw Tiger golf team hosted the Bob Turner Classic at Tippecanoe Lake Country Club on Monday.

Penn won the team title with a 293. Bishop Dwenger finished second, Warsaw was third, NorthWood was fourth, Triton fifth, Manchester sixth, Wawasee seventh and Warsaw junior varsity finished eighth.

The Saints are the No. 4 team in the state, the Kingsmen are No. 9 and Warsaw is No. 19.

The Tigers shot a 315 as a team. Tommy Meier led the way with a 76. Sam Yeager followed with a 77 and Chase Byron carded a 79. Luke Delp and Jacob LaLonde both had an 83.

Warsaw JV was led by Zach LaLonde with an 82. Tucker Carlile and Brian Elliott both had an 86. Noah Pequignot (102) and Mason Whitaker (108) rounded out the golfers for the Tigers.

For the Squires, Harley Kruschwitz finished tied for second with a 71. Nathan Self carded a 78 and Klayton Hendrix followed with a 92. Konrad Borgmann fired a 95 and Logan Parrett shot a 101 to round out the golfers for Manchester.

For the Warriors, Dillon Drake shot an 81. Zach Leedy followed closely with an 83. Evan Dippon (90), Tyler Bostic (94) and Aiden Jonsson (106) rounded out Wawasee’s lineup.

The Squires compete on Thursday at Sycamore Golf Club against Peru. Wawasee plays at Eagle Glen Golf Club on Thursday against Columbia City. Warsaw competes at the Lafayette Jefferson Invitational on Saturday.



Melanson Knocks In Four; Valley Blanks Winamac

WINAMAC – The Tippecanoe Valley baseball team won 10-0 at Winamac on Monday in a Three Rivers Conference game.

The Vikings scored five runs in the top of the fifth inning and held Winamac scoreless in the bottom of the frame to enforce the run rule.

Valley’s Layne Prater pitched five innings and allowed three hits, three walks and struck out four batters.

At the dish, Wes Melanson led the team with three hits and four RBIs. Adam Myers and Ethan Yates both had two hits. Myers finished with two RBIs.

Valley plays on Saturday against the winner of NorthWood and Angola in the semifinal round of the Lakeland Sectional. First pitch is slated for 10 a.m.
