Manchester’s Late Rally Falls Short To TRC Foe Maconaquah

BUNKER HILL – The Manchester baseball team had a late rally fall short on Wednesday and lost 7-6 at Maconaquah.

The Squires jumped out to an early 3-1 lead, but Maconaquah added five runs in the bottom of the third to break away.

Manchester tallied two runs in the top of the seventh to make it 7-6.

Hayes Sturtsman took the loss for the Squires. He gave up six hits and struck out 13 batters. At the plate, he had two hits.

Mason Meyer led the team with three hits, including a double. He had two RBIs and scored two runs.

Kaleb Fluke added a hit and an RBI. Grant Strobel had a hit and scored three runs.

Manchester travels to Heritage on Friday.

North Miami Beats Whitko


SOUTH WHITLEY – The Whitko Wildcat baseball team lost 12-9 to North Miami on Wednesday.

Whitko’s River West led the team with three hits. Spencer Sroufe added two doubles and Austin Hollowell had two hits.

The Wildcats play at Columbia City on Friday. First pitch is set for 5 p.m.

Wawasee Falls In Northern Lakes Battle

SYRACUSE – The Wawasee Warrior baseball team lost 12-3 against Northridge on Wednesday.

In the Northern Lakes Conference contest, Blake Norris took the loss for Wawasee. He pitched 3-1/3 innings, allowed five hits, six earned runs and struck out three batters.

Jake Crousore and Blaine Greer both had doubles for the Warriors. Jairus Boyer, Jeremiah Bess and Jacob Hand all had singles for Wawasee.

The Warriors play at Plymouth on Friday. First pitch is at 5 p.m.

NAPPANEE – The Warsaw Tiger baseball team lost 6-0 at NorthWood on Wednesday.

The Tigers move to 4-12 for the season and 2-9 in Northern Lakes Conference play.

Warsaw’s Jared Hawley led the team with two hits.

Caden Bowers was tagged with the loss after pitching 4-2/3 innings.

Tigers visit Carroll for a nonconference game on Saturday at 10 a.m.

Northridge Defeats Wawasee In Slugfest

MIDDLEBURY – The Wawasee softball team lost 21-11 at Northridge on Wednesday.

Between the two teams, the game had six home runs, seven doubles and 36 hits.

Ava Rush and Maddison Mottern both had home runs for Wawasee. Mottern had two RBIs.

Delaney Hare added three hits, including a double. She had six RBIs to lead the team.

Ava Rush and Bethany Flannery each had three hits for the Lady Warriors.

Olivia Stuck took the loss for Wawasee. She allowed eight hits and eight earned runs in 2/3 innings of work.

Wawasee hosts Elkhart Central tonight at 5 p.m.

Courtney Chookie took the loss for the Lady Tigers. She allowed two runs, seven hits and struck out three.

Howard Rips Home Run; Valley Loses To Peru

AKRON – The Tippecanoe Valley Lady Viking softball team lost 8-1 to Peru on Wednesday.

Valley’s Sydney Howard hit a home run to put the team on the board. She had two hits in the game.

Kayla Scott had a triple and a double for the Lady Vikings.

Ally Betten took the loss. She allowed 10 hits, six runs, walked two and struck out two in 3-2/3 innings of work.

Valley hosts Marion tonight at 5:30 p.m.

Lady Wildcat Netters Defeat FW Wayne

FORT WAYNE – The Whitko girls tennis team won 3-2 at Fort Wayne Wayne on Wednesday.

Whitko’s Jackie Werstler won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles. Natalie Iholtz won 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 singles.

The No. 1 doubles duo of Jenna VanCuren and Mahkinsey Myers won 6-3, 6-2 for the Lady Wildcats.

Whitko travels to Three Rivers Conference rival Peru tonight for a 5 p.m. match.



Lady Squires Claim Third Straight TRC Title

PERU – The Manchester girls tennis team won 4-1 at Peru on Thursday to win its third consecutive Three Rivers Conference title.

The Lady Squires are 7-0 in TRC play.

Lydia Little won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 singles to score Manchester’s first point of the match. Halle Briner won 6-3, 6-1 at No. 2 singles.

The No. 1 doubles pair of Eva Bazzoni and Kendra Auler won 6-1, 6-4. The No. 2 doubles duo of Lauren Metzger and Anna Osborne won 6-4, 6-0.

The Lady Squires play at Southwood for their final TRC match of the season.

Squire Golf Wins Over Southwood, Rochester

NORTH MANCHESTER – The Manchester Squire golf team defeated Southwood and Rochester in a three-way match at Sycamore Golf Club on Wednesday.

The Squires shot a 181, Southwood had a 197 and Rochester carded a 201.

Manchester’s Harley Kruschwitz was the medalist with a 38. Nathan Self carded a 44 and Klayton Hendrix fired a 49.

Konrad Borgmann had a 50 and Mathias McLaughlin shot a 65.

The Squires play in the Three Rivers Conference Tournament on Saturday at Rozella Ford Golf Club. The match begins at 8 a.m.
