Lakeland Christian Wins Inaugural Conference Title

SOUTH BEND – The Lakeland Christian Academy girls basketball team secured a Hoosier Plains regular season conference championship Saturday night with a 47-18 win over South Bend Trinity.

The Lady Cougars found themselves ahead early, leading 9-2 after the first period. The short break seemed to add more fuel to their tanks, pushing the gap to 22-7 at intermission.

After halftime, LCA outscored the Lady Titans 25-11 in the final two quarters.

Senior Hope Fancil tallied 16 points, six rebounds and six steals to lead the squad. Sophomore Tori Calizo poured in 11 points and grabbed four rebounds.

In the first year of the conference, LCA garnered a perfect 4-0 record to capture the top spot.
