SOUTH BEND - Grace’s cross country team thrived on Friday at the Bethel Invitational.

In a packed field, Grace’s squads each had top-four finishes. The men’s team placed third out of 14, and the women were fourth out of 15 teams.

The Lady Lancers had two runners nab top-10 finishes. Out of 162 runners, Heather Plastow finished fourth in a time of 18:57. Mallory Hiatt’s time of 19:07 was good for seventh place overall.

The next three for the women finished in a 17-second span. Elizabeth Moore (20:46) grabbed 40th place, Makenzie Adams (20:59) was 46th, and Kaelyn Johnson (21:03) was 49th.

Weslea Arthur (22:24), Tara Friesen (22:26) and Anna Hulstedt (22:38) rounded out the top eight.

On the men’s side, Bryan Hernandez-Rios paced the Lancers. The sophomore was seventh out of 141 runners with a time of 26:28.

Logan Rufenacht (27:14) and Macallister Cheek (27:15) ran step-for-step, finishing at 19th place and 20th respectively.        

Dimitri Margaritidis was six places behind that duo with a time of 27:28, and Peter Simmon was next for Grace at 27:55.

Hayden Mullett (28:13) and Dakota Ames (29:10) completed Grace’s top seven, and Matt Halbakken (29:11) and Nathan Woolery (29:17) were just behind Ames.

The Lancers have one tuneup remaining with Taylor’s Midwest Challenge on Oct. 24.
