Seven Local Soccer Players Make TRC All-Conference Team

Seven local soccer players were selected to the Three Rivers Conference all-conference team this week.

On the boys side, Jonathan Ruiz of Tippecanoe Valley was selected after a stellar season in which he led his team with 16 goals, double the second place finisher on the team. Manchester had four players selected to the squad: Michael Ortiz, Kolby Haecker, Tyler McLain and Logan Bishop. The Vikings and Squires both had two honorable mentions as well, Tyler Jones and Gio Arriaga for Valley, and Owen Kruschwitz and Trevor Heath for Manchester.

On the girls team, two Manchester players were selected: Kindra Stetzel and Hadley Schannep. Two more Lady Squires were on the honorable mentions team, Addison Brubaker and Ella Clifford.

Triton Drops Regular Season Finale To Winamac

WINAMAC – Triton scored first but couldn’t find the end zone again in a 27-7 loss to Winamac Friday night. The Trojans finish the regular season with a 3-6 record.

The scoring started for the Trojans in as familiar a way as any. Anthony Schuh rushed for a five-yard touchdown a little over two minutes into the game to get Triton on top. That would be the last of the scoring. Schuh finished his day with 24 yards on 13 carries. The passing game didn’t do much in terms of production either, as quarterback Cole Shively completed just 1-5 passes for two yards.

The Trojans have a bye in the opening round of the sectional, and will travel to either Northfield or Fremont on Oct. 29.

Whitko Drops Close Game To Wabash

SOUTH WHITLEY -  Whitko was unable to hold off Wabash for the entire 48 minutes and lost a close game 12-9 Friday. The Wildcats finish the regular season with a 1-8 record.

Whitko would get on the board first with a field goal, and would end up taking a 9-6 lead into the halftime locker room. But the Wildcats were unable to do anything offensively in the second half, and relied on their defense to come up with stops. Time and time again it did, but with just over a minute left in the game, Wabash would find the end zone to take a 12-9 lead that would stand as the final score.

Next up for Whitko is a matchup at Central Noble Friday in the sectional tournament.
