Warsaw at Penn

MISHAWAKA – Warsaw struggled to get anything going offensively in its IHSAA 4A Sectional 4 semifinal game against Penn, falling 3-1. The Tigers finish the season with a 15-11 record.

Warsaw was only able to manage two hits in the game, one by Keegan Sherman and one by Josh Shapiro. Shapiro drove in the lone run for the Tigers. Sam Justice took the loss for Warsaw, giving up two earned runs in three innings, striking out two.

Warsaw will return next season.

NorthWood at Wawasee

ELKHART – Wawasee extended its winning streak to six in its IHSAA 3A Sectional 21 championship game against NorthWood Monday, winning 9-5. The Warriors are now 13-14 and will advance to the regional. More on this game will be in tomorrow’s paper.

The Warriors got to the championship game with a 10-4 victory over Lakeland Saturday. Maddux Everingham had a huge day, finishing with four hits and two runs driven in. Ty Brooks also drove in two runs on three hits. Kaleb Salazar was the big run producer, driving in four.

Whitko at Manchester

WABASH – It was Whitko that emerged victorious in a battle of two local teams in the IHSAA 2A Sectional 37 semifinal Saturday, as the Wildcats defeated Manchester 7-3. Whitko is now 9-17 this season while the Squires end their season with a 6-17 mark.

Garrett Sites drove in two of the three Manchester runs. Evan Martynowicz led the team in hits with three. The Squires will return next season.

Whitko advances to the sectional championship against Carroll. The game was played last night, with results and statistics coming in tomorrow’s paper.

Triton at Oregon-Davis

UNION MILLS – Triton’s season came to an end in the semifinal game of IHSAA 1A Sectional 50 Saturday, as the team fell in a 16-3 final result. The Trojans end the season with a 4-20 record.

Jacob Pitney and Lucas Kaufman both had two hits for Triton, with Pitney picking up and extra-base hit and an RBI. The duo both scored a run as well.

Triton will return next season.



Softball

Concord at Warsaw

WARSAW – Warsaw saw its season end at home in the semifinal of IHSAA 4A Sectional 4 Friday, losing 18-2 to Concord in five innings. The Tigers end their season with a 3-24 record.

Lauren Eastwood and Makayla Holder both had two hits. Eastwood finishes the season with a team high in batting average while Holder finishes with the team lead in on-base percentage. Avery Sleeth had a double and an RBI.

Warsaw will return next season.

Jimtown at Wawasee

SYRACUSE – Wawasee’s run came to an end in the IHSAA 3A Sectional 21 championship game Saturday, as the Warriors fell to Jimtown 6-1. Wawasee finishes the season with a 8-17 record.

Evelyn Duncan drove in the lone Warrior run on a solo home run in the fifth inning. Haylee Allen had five strikeouts in seven innings pitched.

Wawasee will return next season.

Whitko at Lewis Cass

WABASH – Whitko extended its winning streak to four and will advance to the regional after defeating Lewis Cass 3-2 in the championship of IHSAA 2A Sectional 37. The Lady ‘Cats record now sits at 9-12.

Guinny Garr had two hits, one for extra bases, and drove in a run. Five different Whitko players had a hit, including Ella Walter who also hit a double. Maddie Dafforn struck out nine and gave up just two unearned runs in a complete game.

The Lady ‘Cats advance to the regional and will play Western Boone Tuesday evening.
