Lady Vikings Down N. Miami; Claim 10th Win

DENVER – Class 3A No. 4 Tippecanoe Valley claimed its 10th win of the season Friday night, 51-41 at North Miami in a Three Rivers Conference girls basketball game.

Sophie Bussard turned in a 9-of-9 effort at the free throw line to go with a pair of three-pointers and finished with a game-high 23 points. Emily Peterson hit a pair of treys as well and had 14 points. Olivia Trippiedi gathered five rebounds to pace the Lady Vikings.

Tippecanoe Valley broke open a tight game at halftime, outscoring the Lady Warriors 19-13 in the third quarter to expand a one-point lead at intermission to eight heading into the final period.

The junior varsity game was won by Valley 36-13 over the Lady Warriors. Emma Craig had 13 points and Jillian Walls 11 in the winning effort.

Valley will play a non-conference game Thursday at Winamac.

Goshen Downs Wawasee

GOSHEN – Casey Schroeder hit three 3-point shots and finished with 14 points for Wawasee in its 33-29 Northern Lakes Conference loss at Goshen Friday night.

The Lady Warriors held Goshen without a field goal in the third quarter, yielding just one point. But the Lady RedHawks gave up just four points in the period, a free throw and a trey by Schroeder.

Goshen won the junior varsity game 23-18 over Wawasee. Abby Steiner had four points, and seven players had two points each for the Lady Warriors.

Wawasee (5-5, 0-2 NLC) will play a non-conference game Tuesday night at Bethany Christian.

Cougars Roll To Victory

WINONA LAKE – Jake Harmon had four three-pointers on his way to a career-high 22 points, and Josh McDaniel had 17 points for Lakeland Christian in its 60-40 non-conference boys basketball win over visiting Portage Christian Friday night.

Eli Raymond just missed a double-double for the Cougars, finishing with nine points and nine rebounds.

The Cougars didn’t allow any Pacers to reach double figures. LCA led 19-12 after the first quarter, 36-18 at intermission and cruised from there.

Lakeland Christian (3-3) hosts North Miami in a non-conference game Tuesday.

Trojans Edge Pioneers In Conference Opener

BOURBON – Ross Johnson scored 22 points and Beau Hepler added 12 for Triton in its come-from-behind 47-44 Hoosier North Athletic Conference boys basketball win over visiting Pioneer Friday night in the Trojan Trench.

Pioneer led 30-21 at halftime, but the Trojans held the Panthers to 14 second-half points in their first game of the season. Triton had to overcome a double-double by Pioneer’s Trey Waddups, who finished with 20 points and 14 rebounds while playing all 32 minutes.

Johnson and Dylan Hensley pulled down seven rebounds each to pace Triton.

Pioneer won the junior varsity contest 37-20 over Triton. Tyler Heckaman had eight points to lead the home team.

The Trojans (2-3, 1-0 HNAC) host Bethany Christian in a non-conference contest Tuesday.
