Warsaw Dominates LaPorte To Headline Prep Hoops Saturday

LaPorte at Warsaw
It was a record setting performance for the Warsaw Tigers girls basketball team Saturday night, as the team defeated LaPorte 69-7 at the Tiger Den. Warsaw is now 2-1 this season.
The seven points allowed were the fewest points ever given up by Warsaw in a varsity game. The score at halftime was 50-0, the first time the Tigers have ever posted a shutout in a half. LaPorte scored its first point of the night with six seconds remaining in the third quarter on a free throw.
Brooke Winchester led the team in scoring with 20 points. The sophomore went 8-10 from the field and 3-5 from three-point range. Winchester also got it done defensively, grabbing four steals. Brooke Zartman had nine points.
Warsaw plays at the NLC shootout against Crown Point and Merrillville on Saturday.
Tippecanoe Valley at Northwestern
Tippecanoe Valley dropped its second game in a row Saturday, falling 59-50 to Northwestern on the road. The Lady Vikings are now 3-2 this season.
Kaydence Mellott led the team in scoring with 18 points. Lily Ault had a season-high with eleven. Tippecanoe Valley is back in action Tuesday against NorthWood.
Manchester at Maconaquah
Manchester came close to picking up its first win of the season Saturday at Maconaquah, but came just short, falling 49-45 to fall to 0-3 this season.
Brookelynn Buzzard led the Lady Squires in scoring with 13 points to go along with six rebounds. Center Kim Schroll had 10 points and led the team with seven rebounds. Manchester is at home Tuesday against Adams Central.
Churubusco at Whitko
Whitko earned its second win of the season over the weekend, defeating Churubusco 40-27 at home. The Lady ‘Cats are now 2-2 this season.
Braisha Harrison paced the Whitko scorers by putting up 15 points. Not far behind her was Kloe Krieg, who had 10. Gwen Howard was terrific defensively, securing six rebounds and swatting away five shots. Whitko is at home against Peru Tuesday night.
Oregon-Davis at Lakeland Christian
Lakeland Christian remains undefeated on the season after defeating Oregon-Davis 55-46 at home Saturday night. The Cougars are now 2-0 this winter. LCA is on the road Tuesday, traveling to take on Harlan Christian.
