Local High School Sports Recaps For 3/31
Staff Report
Friday, March 31, 2023 6:41 PM
Tippy Valley Leaving TRC
Tippecanoe Valley High School sent a letter asking for separation from the Three Rivers Conference by the 2024-25 school year, as first reported by Chuck Freeby of 46 Sports Friday morning.
Also taking place on Friday, Jimtown, John Glenn and Bremen have informed the Northern Indiana Conference of their intentions to leave. Knox and LaVille have also asked for separation from the Hoosier North Athletic Conference. The early speculation is that these moves are related and will result in these teams forming a new conference, but that has yet to be confirmed.
Tippecanoe Valley has been a member of the Three Rivers Conference since the school opened its doors in 1975.
Baseball
Warsaw at St. Joseph
Warsaw began its 2023 baseball season with neither a win nor loss, as the team’s Thursday night game against South Bend St. Joseph ended in a 7-7 tie due to darkness. The Tigers are 0-0-1 to start the campaign.
Kaden Ciaccia-Long led the team with two hits while Jette Woodward hit Warsaw’s first long ball of the year with a fourth inning home run. The Tigers scored four runs in the first inning.
Fairfield at Tippecanoe Valley
Fairfield played spoiler in Tippecanoe Valley’s first baseball game of the year Thursday night, defeating the Vikings 11-1 in five innings.
The Falcons scored nine runs in the first inning and had 14 hits on the day. Three Valley errors led to six unearned runs. Evan Myers drove in the lone Valley run.
Manchester at Argos
Manchester defeated nonconference opponent Argos in jaw-dropping fashion Thursday night, winning 38-0 against the Dragons in five innings. The Squires are now 1-0.
Manchester scored 15 runs in the first inning, following it up with three in the second, eleven in the third and nine in the fourth.
