Boys Basketball

Tippecanoe Valley at Manchester

After being postponed from Friday to Saturday due to weather, Tippecanoe Valley defeated Manchester 59-57 on the road in a thrilling Three Rivers Conference battle. Tippy Valley now sits at 13-3, 5-1 in the TRC, while Manchester falls to 12-4, 4-1 in the TRC.

The Vikings needed a massive comeback to get the win and they got it, going on a 14-1 run to close the game and secure the victory. Valley’s Nolan Cumberland had a fantastic night, scoring 28 points including the 1,000thof his career. Tayde Kiser added 17. For the Squires, Gavin Betten had 24 points to lead the team. Ethan Hendrix and Trevor Heath each had 10.

Both teams are back in action Thursday, with Tippecanoe Valley hosting Wabash and Manchester is at home against Northfield.

Wawasee at Lakeland

Wawasee earned a tough win over a good Lakeland side Saturday night, defeating the Lakers 53-50 on the road. The Warriors are now 6-11 this winter.

Maddux Everingham had a big night, scoring 19 points, nine in the second quarter. Everingham made five threes in the contest Collin Ziebarth added 17 points. Collin Roberson added seven points and seven rebounds.

The Warriors were also in action Friday night, falling 48-39 at Concord. Myles Everingham led the team with 12 points.

Wawasee is back at home Thursday night against Northridge.

Whitko at Woodlan

Whitko suffered a tough road loss Saturday, falling 54-41 to Woodlan. The Wildcats are now 2-12 this season and will look to get back in the win column Thursday at North Miami.

Triton at North Judson

Triton dropped its first Hoosier North Athletic Conference game of the season Saturday, falling 71-56 to North Judson on the road. The Trojans are now 8-6 this season, 3-1 in the HNAC. Triton will stay on the road for their next contest, Thursday at Argos.

Southern Wells at Lakeland Christian

Lakeland Christian split a pair of games during its busy weekend, the second of which was a loss to Southern Wells Saturday night. The Cougars are now 12-3 this winter.

Seth Martin went off once again, scoring 28 points to lead all players. Martin is averaging a blistering 22.3 points a game. Alex Cook added 14 points for LCA.

On Friday night, Lakeland Christian won their seventh straight game against Argos, defeating the Dragons 43-34 on the road. Cook led the team in scoring with 21 points. Martin was not far behind with 14.

The Cougars are back in action Thursday at Lakewood Park Christian

Girls Basketball

Manchester at Tippecanoe Valley

Tippecanoe Valley finished their regular season with a massive win over Manchester, defeating the Lady Squires 73-38 at home. The Lady Vikings are now 19-3 heading into the playoffs and finish conference play with a perfect 9-0 record. Manchester ends its regular season at 6-16, 2-8 in the Three Rivers Conference.

Kaydence Mellott had 22 points for Valley, followed by Chesnee Miller and Molly Moriarty, who each had 13. For Manchester, Gracie Lauer led the way wih 12 points, five rebounds and four steals. Peyton Ream added seven points.

Tippecanoe Valley is off until Friday, when the team plays either Bremen or Rochester in the semifinals of Sectional 18. Manchester faces Bluffton Tuesday in the first game of Sectional 37.

Clinton Christian at Lakeland Christian

Lakeland Christian put on a show against Clinton Christian Saturday afternoon, defeating their opponent 74-28 at home. The Cougars end their regular season with a 14-6 record.

Reese Stonebreaker had a monster game, scoring 28 points and making eight threes. Mattie Stonebreaker was not far behind her sister, scoring 20 points.

LCA also earned a win on Friday night as well, defeating Lakewood Park Christian 48-37. Mattie Stonebreaker had 14 points while Hanna Stout contributed eleven.

The Cougars face off against Southern Wells in the semifinal of Sectional 53 Friday.

Wabash at Whitko

It was a tough loss for Whitko Friday night, as the team fell 62-60 to Wabash in a game that was highly contested for all four quarters. The Lady ‘Cats end their regular season with a 9-13 record and face off with South Adams Tuesday in the first round of Sectional 37.

North Judson at Triton

Triton fought back but was unable to finish off a comeback against North Judson Friday night, falling 49-42 at the Trojan Trench. Triton ends the regular season at 14-8.

The Trojans outscored their opponents 25-16 in the fourth quarter but was unable to jump out in front. Addyson Viers and Kinsey Atkins each had 12 points to lead Triton. Viers also added six rebounds and two blocks.

Triton has a bye into the semifinals of Sectional 50, where they’ll play the winner of Marquette Catholic and Oregon-Davis Friday night.


Warsaw at Sectional

The Warsaw Wrestling team battled to a third place finish in the Plymouth Sectional on Saturday.

The Tigers advanced 10 wrestlers to next week’s regional round and placed 12 of 14 weights in the top 6.

Jaxson Walters was Warsaw's only champion for the day as the senior 182-pounder came home with his first sectional championship.

Joining him as finalists and bringing home runner up finishes were Bryce McNees at 106 and Elias Garza at 120.

Senior 145-pounder Grant Cook picked up third place to move on to his first regional.

Danny Moon (152), Bryson Brown (160), and Isaac Beam (220) all wrestled tough against 1-seeds early and rallied back for third place.

Also advancing as fourth place finishers were Isaiah Martinez (126), Nathan Rosas (195), and Kameron Kauffman (285).

The Tigers will travel to Penn High School next weekend where the top four finishers will move on to semi-state.

Tippecanoe Valley at Sectional

Also at the Plymouth sectional, Tippecanoe Valley advanced six wrestlers to the regional. The wrestlers advancing are Thad Shambaugh, Joe Lybarger, Galvin Shambaugh, Remington Rickel, Bazle Owens and Dalton Alber.
