No. 4 Lady Vikings Roll To Victory Over Lady Wildcats

AKRON – Tippecanoe Valley, the No. 4 girls basketball team in Class 3A, was dominant in its 87-25 Three Rivers Conference win over visiting Whitko Saturday night. It was the 32nd straight conference victory for the Lady Vikings.

Valley had four players in double figures, led by Sophie Bussard with 23 points and 13 rebounds. Addy Miller had 17, Emily Peterson 16 and Makenzie Woodcox 10 for the Lady Vikings.

Emily Snep had 14 points and 15 rebounds for Whitko.

Valley (12-1, 4-0 TRC) is off until Dec. 30 when it will take on West Noble (9-3) in one semifinal of the Concord tournament. Whitko (1-12, 0-4 TRC) will travel to Bethany Christian on Thursday.

Lady Trojans Win Conference Road Game

ROYAL CENTER – Jaela Faulkner had 11 points and Delanie Groves had nine for Triton in its 46-32 Hoosier North Athletic Conference girls basketball win at Pioneer Saturday night.

Chelsea Johnson had eight points for the Lady Trojans. Nicole Sechrist, Abigail Powell and Whytnie Miller had six points each in the winning effort.

In the junior varsity game Alyxa Viers had 12 points to lead Triton to a 25-18 win over the Lady Panthers.

Triton (6-8 overall, 2-1 HNAC) plays a non-conference game at Warsaw Tuesday.



Lady Cougars 2nd At Bethany Tourney

WATERFORD MILLS – Lakeland Christian’s girls basketball team finished second in the Bethany Christian tournament Saturday, winning 43-40 in overtime over Elkhart Christian in the semifinals and falling 37-28 to the host Lady Bruins in the title contest.

Hope Fancil scored 14 points in the semi and eight in the championship game. Jess Slone had 10 in the first contest and 13 in the second.

The Lady Cougars (6-5) will host its tournament on Dec. 28. They will play South Bend Trinity at 11 a.m. and Covenant Christian at 2 p.m.

Squires Get First Win

NORTH MANCHESTER – Brothers Mason and Weston Hamby scored 15 points each, and 10 Manchester players scored in the Squires’ 73-51 non-conference boys basketball win over Fort Wayne Smith Academy Saturday night.

It was Manchester’s first win of the season in six tries.

Kam Lester had 10 points, with Koehl Fluke and Isaiah Davis adding nine points each in the winning effort.

Nine players scored for Manchester in its 40-25 junior varsity win over the Fighting 54th. Austin Underwood paced the Squires with eight points. Caleb Stout and Justin Self contributed seven points each.

Manchester will host Caston in a non-conference game Tuesday night.

LCA Drops Two At Bethany

WATERFORD MILLS – Lakeland Christian lost both of its boys basketball games in the Bethany Christian tournament Saturday, falling 74-40 to Elkhart Christian and 48-37 to South Bend Trinity.

Josh McDaniel had four three-pointers on his way to a team-high 18 points against Elkhart Christian. Landon Twombly had eight points in the game.

Statistics from the Trinity game were not available as of press time.

The Cougars (3-5) will get a rematch with Trinity in the first game of the LCA Cougar Classic at Grace College at 9 a.m. Dec. 28. LCA will take on Covenant Christian at 12:30 p.m.
