CARMEL – Manchester University sophomore Delayne Sanchez has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Hitter of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.

Sanchez (Osceola) has blossomed this spring for the Spartan softball program. In a 4-2 week for Manchester, which also saw the Spartans post a 3-1 mark in HCAC play, Sanchez combined to hit 10-19 (.526) at the plate with seven RBI.

Sanchez hit her first career collegiate home run on Friday in Manchester's doubleheader sweep of Bluffton. She was also a perfect 3-3 on stole base attempts and scored twice during the week.

On the year, the sophomore center fielder leads the team in batting average at .375 (30-80). Sanchez ranks second on the team with 17 RBI and also has six stolen bases in 29 games.

Manchester University distance runner Elizabeth Lohman has been tabbed as the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Female Track Athlete of the Week.

Lohman (Fort Wayne) led the women's track & field team with an event win in the 3000m steeplechase at the Indiana D3 Championships hosted at DePauw on Saturday April 16. Lohman led the field with a time of 11:12.77, crushing her previous mark in the event. Lohman's time remained as the 2nd fastest mark in Manchester University history, leads the HCAC by over a minute, and currently stands as the 13th fastest time nationally.
