GAYLORD, Mich. - Grace’s women’s golf team made history at the Lawrence Tech Invitational on Tuesday.

The Lady Lancers used a second-round score of 301 to overcome a 10-stroke deficit, picking up its third tournament win of the season in the process. The tournament was played at the Tree Tops Resort.

Grace’s 301 on Tuesday was the lowest single round in the program’s history; it bettered the previous mark of 303, which was hit twice in 2019.

Grace entered day two of the tournament trailing NCAA Div. II opponent Lake Superior State by 10 strokes. The Lady Lancers improved their second-round score by 18 strokes to win the tournament by seven strokes.

Leading the day two charge for Grace was Summer Stillson. The recently named NCCAA Player of the Week helped Grace’s historic day with a round-two mark of 72. It was the fourth-lowest individual score in the program's history.

Stillson also took home the overall medalist honors with a total of 151; it is her second individual win of the year.

Grace May went 81-74 in her two rounds of play and ended up third overall in the tournament.

Also posting a top-five finish for Grace was Carolyn Pacocha. The senior posted a 159, tied for fourth best score in the tournament.

Brette Hanavan and Lucy Young also posted top-10 finishes with scores of 161 and 164 respectively. Hannah Godfrey placed in the top-25 with a two round score of 181.

Young and Godfrey both improved their second round scores by more than 10 strokes.

In the victory, Grace had five players finish in the top-10 overall. The Lady Lancers have now won three of their first four tournaments, the other result being a second-place finish.

“Today was extremely special,” said Grace’s head coach Denny Duncan. “To play so well and post a school record of 301 on such a difficult course is phenomenal. I am so proud of the entire team.”

Grace’s next tournament will take place in Utah as the Lady Lancers take part in the Westminster Wasatch Invitational, held from Sept. 25-27.

Lancers Crack Top Ten In NAIA Poll

WINONA LAKE - Grace’s men’s soccer team has earned its first top-10 ranking in the program’s recorded history.

The Lancers landed at No. 8 in the latest poll after upsetting No. 3 Columbia 1-0 on Saturday afternoon. It is a four-spot jump having previously been ranked No. 12.

Grace’s meteoric rise in the NAIA poll this season has been aided by a grueling schedule. Seven of Grace’s eight opponents made an appearance in this poll.

The battle-tested Lancers are unbeaten this year with a current record of 5-0-3. Grace also boasts two top-five upsets, with victories of No. 5 Oklahoma Wesleyan and No. 3 Columbia.

With the non-conference season now in the rearview mirror, the Lancers will now turn their attention to Crossroads League play. Grace was joined in the poll by fellow league members Bethel (No. 13) and IWU (receiving votes).

Grace opens up the conference season with a home match against Marian. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. on Saturday.
