NORTH MANCHESTER – Kennedy Fierstos tallied 19 points and nine steals to lead the Manchester girls basketball team to a resounding 55-31 Three Rivers Conference home win Friday over Southwood. 

The Lady Squires (7-5, 4-0 TRC) led by one point heading into the second half, but allowed Southwood just two third-quarter points.

They outscored the Lady Knights 20-7 in the fourth to seal the victory. 

“We ended the game doing everything we needed to do to put the game away,” said Manchester coach Jake Everett. “Southwood was well prepared and came in with a well-designed game plan. I am so proud of the fight our team showed again tonight.” 

Eva Bazzoni recorded 16 points and seven steals for Manchester, while Kennidy Lauer added seven points and Jirni Cripe pulled down eight rebounds. 



Squires Squash Southwood

NORTH MANCHESTER – The Manchester boys basketball team earned a 55-45 comeback victory Friday over Three Rivers Conference foe Southwood.

Brayden Casper scored a team-high 22 points and grabbed seven rebounds for the Squires (3-2, 1-0 TRC), while Weston Hamby had 11 points and Kamdyn Lester added nine. 

“We finished well in the second half,” said Manchester coach Mark Underwood. “We need to work toward putting a full 32 minutes together. I believe in these guys, and I know they will eventually get there.” 

Manchester will host Winamac today.

BOURBON – The Triton boys basketball team struggled to get much offense going in a 58-21 Hoosier North Athletic Conference home loss Friday to Winamac. 

The Trojans (4-3, 1-1 HNAC) scored just three points in the first quarter and two in the second, before scoring eight each in the third and fourth quarters. 

Ashton Oviedo led Triton with seven points, while Beau Hepler added six. 

Winamac (4-2, 2-1 HNAC) piled on the points, and was led by Calvin Larkin’s game-high 23 points. 

Winamac won 34-20 in the JV game.

The Trojans will play Thursday at Trinity-at-Greenlawn.
