LAGRANGE – Visiting Wawasee scored nine runs in the seventh inning to break open a one-run game and take a 12-2 win over Lakeland on Saturday.
Rieder Hanley had a double, three singles, scored three times and drove in two runs for Wawasee. Blaine Greer and Chase Rookstool added two hits each.
Jacob Garcia was the winning pitcher in relief, tossing 4-2/3 innings of shutout baseball. He allowed four hits and a walk, and struck out one.
Wawasee closed out the regular season with a 7-19-1 record, and returns to LaGrange for the 3A Lakeland Sectional on Wednesday to take on Tippecanoe Valley.
