AKRON – Tippecanoe Valley helped forge a four-way tie for the Three Rivers Conference baseball title with a 3-2 win over front-running Peru Wednesday night. The Vikings pushed across the winning run in the bottom of the sixth inning.
The two teams, along with Whitko and Southwood, finished 7-2 in TRC play.
Valley senior and future Northern Illinois University pitcher Eric Hammer went the distance, striking out 12 while allowing five hits and four walks.
Alec Craig, Luke Helton and Garrett Bell had two hits each for the Vikings. Helton doubled and drove in a run, and Bell collected two RBIs. Valley pounded out 10 hits as a team.
Now 15-6 overall, Valley will travel to Monticello on Saturday for a tournament at Twin Lakes High School
