Triton’s sofball team poses with the 1A Triton Sectional trophy after the Lady Trojans beat Bethany Christian 16-0 in five innings Tuesday night.
BOURBON – Triton won its fourth straight 1A sectional title, and fifth overall, by beating visiting Bethany Christian 16-0 in five innings at Keyser Field Tuesday night.
The Lady Trojans scored nine times in the first three innings before adding seven in the bottom of the fourth to bring the run rule into effect.
Kayla Kreft had three hits to pace the 17-hit Lady Trojan attack. Megan Berger and Sydney Musilli each had doubles; Berger drove in three runs and Musilli had an RBI. Berger, Nichole Sechrist, Zoee Stephan, Taytum Hargrave, and Courtney Jennings had two hits each, and Stephan scored three times. Ten different players had hits and 12 players scored for Triton.
Jennings was the winning pitcher, allowing only two hits while striking out six in four innings of work. Sechrist pitched a perfect fifth inning and struck out a hitter to close out the championship win.
Triton will be on the road for its regional game on Tuesday, and will take on the winner of the LaCrosse Sectional. The Lady Trojans will travel to Argos (a 11-8 semifinal winner over West Central), or the winner of today’s semifinal game between South Central and LaCrosse. That sectional championship game is scheduled for Thursday.
