NORTH MANCHESTER – Manchester’s baseball team closed out its regular season with a pair of shutout wins, 2-0 and 5-0, over visiting LaVille on Saturday.
David McAtee had two hits in the opener, with Kane Gable and Hayes Sturtsman getting a hit and an RBI each. Zach Hill tossed a complete game, striking out three to earn the win.
In game two, McAtee added three more hits, and Janzin Cripe added two hits and a pair of runs driven in. Freshman Kaleb Fluke was the winning pitcher.
“It’s nice to get two wins heading into the sectional,” said Manchester head coach Jack Rupley. “We played really good ‘D’ in both games, and we need to carry that over. Kaleb did a great job on the mound, hitting spots and mixing speeds in his first varsity game.”
The Squires (7-17) open play in the 2A Wabash Sectional at 7 p.m. Wednesday against Three Rivers Conference rival Rochester.
