Photo ProvidedThe Warsaw area high school girls rugby team finished its season on a high, winning the Indiana High School Girls Division 1 state title on Sunday in Fishers.The Warsaw team beat local rival Penn 31-17 on Saturday in the Semistate game in Fort Wayne, then followed it up with a 34-12 win over Arsenal Tech on Sunday.The tournament most valuable player award went to Whitney Boren, who had worked tirelessly during the game and had dominated in the line out all afternoon, according to head coach Trevor Cracknell"I am especially happy for my seniors, all of whom played in our last state final appearance in 2014,” Cracknell said. “The girls have achieved much this spring winning the Carolina's Ruggerfest Tournament, coming seventh in Division 1 nationals and being ranked in the top 25 nationally.“However, from day one of practice they all had one goal and that was to win the state championship and it was great to see them achieve that goal today. I count myself very lucky to be able to work with such an awesome group of young ladies.”
