CONVERSE – Oak Hill freshman Jennessa Hasty homered with two outs and nobody on in the bottom of the seventh inning to tie the game, then the Lady Golden Eagles’ Maddie Nall had a sacrifice fly in the eighth to give the hosts a 4-3 win over defending sectional champion Manchester Tuesday night in a 2A softball sectional first-round game.
The Lady Squires took a 3-2 lead in the fifth inning when Ellie Milam scored on a wild pitch and Emma West scored on Kiera Stacy’s single. Stacy had three hits in the game, and Milam added two.
Brooklyn Howard took the loss in the pitcher’s circle, allowing three earned runs and striking out five in 7-2/3 innings.
Manchester closed out its season with a 16-4 record.
