Tippecanoe Valley Rolls To Big TRC Victory Over N. Miami

DENVER – Tippecanoe Valley scored early, often and kept the clock rolling the entire second half in its 60-0 Three Rivers Conference football win over host North Miami Friday night.

After scoring 25 points in the opening period, the Vikings got three touchdowns in the second quarter to take a 46-0 lead into the intermission. The high school football mercy rule, where the clock runs continuously except after scores or for injuries, kicks in when there’s a lead of 35 or more points after halftime.

Quarterback Branson McBrier completed just 6 of 7 passes, but threw for 235 yards and four touchdowns; one each to Alex Craft, Rex Kirchenstein, Jacob Davis and Wade Jones. Seven Vikings rushed for at least 16 yards, led by Craft and Hunter Eherenman with 40 yards each. Craft, Joel Cisneros and Gerardo Hernandez and Johnny Gonsalez all ran for touchdowns.

Tippecanoe Valley racked up 445 yards of total offense, averaging 13 yards per snap, while holding North Miami to 90.

LCA?Falls To Trinity

WINONA LAKE – Joy Hanes scored her third goal of the 2020 season for host Lakeland Christian Academy in its 3-1 girls soccer loss to South Bend Trinity Friday night.

After a scoreless first half, Trinity scored on a long shot that found the back corner two minutes into the second half. Hanes got the equalizer on a free kick.

With about 25 to go in the game Trinity would score on a scrabble inside the 6 and a few minutes later on another lofting shot for the final margin.

“The girls played well and battled hard even though we were missing Avery Hobbs tonight,” said cougar head coach Nat Raber. “Liza Schmitt filled in very well.

“I’m seeing growth even in the loss that I am encouraged with.”

LCA takes a 3-4-1 record into its road game at Wabash Tuesday.
