Manchester vs. Tippecanoe Valley

Two local schools matched up in the semifinals of IHSAA 2A Sectional 22 at Wabash Wednesday, with Manchester edging Tippecanoe Valley 6-0 to halt the Vikings eleven-game win streak and advancing to the sectional championship. The Squires record improves to 12-4-1 this season, while Tippy Valley ends the season with a 14-4 mark.

Manchester held just a 1-0 lead at halftime courtesy of a goal by Michael Ortiz. The Squires would erupt for five goals in the second half, three by Nathanial Miller, one more by Ortiz and the fifth from Tyler McClain. Kolby Haecker saved all six shots he saw in net for Manchester.

The Squires will take on Culver Academies Satrurday night at 7 p.m. in the sectional championship.

Lakeland Christian vs. Bethany Christian

Lakeland Christian soccer had its season ended in the semifinal match of IHSAA 1A Sectional 35 at Elkhart Christian Wednesday. The Cougars fell 2-1 to No. 13 ranked Bethany Christian. LCA ends its season with a 6-11 record.

Lakeland Christian’s only goal was scored in the fifty eighth minute by Andrew Bosch. Cougar goalie Braden Wierick was fantastic in goal once again, finishing with 15 saves. LCA will return next season.

Tippecanoe Valley

Tippecanoe Valley tennis play Ryan Neese committed to Huntington University’s tennis team Thursday. Best of luck to Ryan in his future endeavors.


Warsaw Orange vs. Warsaw Black

The Warsaw baseball team held the first game of its fifth annual Steaks and Dogs World series at Tiger Field Thursday. Team Black defeated Team Orange 5-4.

Dallas Lancaster was the hero for Warsaw Black with a walk-off RBI single in the sixth inning. Zac Miller got the start for Team Black and struck out six hitters over two and two thirds innings. Game two of the series will be held on Monday.
