WINONA LAKE – Lakeland Christian held a five-point lead at the end of three quarters, but fell 32-31 to Kalamazoo (Mich.) Home School in the championship of the LCA Cougar Classic girls basketball tournament at Grace College Friday.

Hope Fancil led the Lady Cougars with 15 points and nine rebounds. Anna Reimink had eight points and four boards and Tori Calizo had four points and four rebounds.

Now 8-6, LCA will travel to Argos for a non-conference game Jan. 6.

Cougars Win; Finish Fifth

WINONA LAKE – Josh McDaniel had 27 points, including an 8-of-9 effort from the free throw line, to lead Lakeland Christian to a 63-48 win over Noble-Whitley Home School Friday. The win gave LCA fifth place in the Cougar Classic boys basketball tournament at Grace College.

Landon Twombly had 12 points for the Cougars, and Jake Harmon added eight points in the winning effort.

LCA (4-7) will host North Miami Jan. 9 in a non-conference game.
