Two people were hurt Sunday night when the motorcycle they were riding on hit a deer.

The driver of the 2008 Harley-Davidson Fua, Scott C. Sandlin, 47, North Nancy Drive, Warsaw, had bruising to his entire body and head injuries. He was taken to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne by helicopter.

He was listed in good condition this morning.

The passenger, Heather L. Carver, South CR 400W, Warsaw, had bruising to the elbow and lower arm and was evaluated at the scene by paramedics.

The accident happened at about 8:49 p.m. Sunday on East Ind. 14, about 1,000 feet east of South County Farm Road, according to a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department report.

Sandlin was traveling east on Ind. 14 when a deer entered the motorcycle’s path. He was unable to avoid hitting the deer.

Damage was estimated at $10,000 to $25,000.

The report does not indicate if Sandlin and Carver were wearing helmets.
