The Tracey’s Trails Fund, a component fund of the Kosciusko County Community Foundation, recently granted $4,000 to Kosciusko County Velo Cycling Club (KCV).

The grant enables KCV to train eight new League Cycling instructors, certified through the League of American Bicyclists. The trained individuals will serve as instructors for the Tracey’s Trailer program, a bicycle skills and safety course offered by KCV to third-graders in Warsaw Community Schools.

Since 2015, Tracey’s Trailer programming has coached nearly 2,000 students on safe bicycling practices and taught more than 100 how to ride on their own.

“There’s nothing better than seeing the confidence and smiles from children who feel more comfortable riding their bicycles,” said Greg Demopoulos, vice president and co-founder of KCV. “We know firsthand the impact that riding a bicycle has. It goes far beyond fun, not only making an impact on physical health, but social and mental health, as well.”

The Tracey’s Trails Fund was established at the Community Foundation in memory of Tracey Yeager. Before passing away from cancer in 2010, Yeager was an avid runner and cyclist. In her honor, the fund builds, improves and maintains recreational areas throughout Kosciusko County, including hiking and biking paths.

Gifts to the Tracey’s Trails Fund are welcome and are tax-deductible. They can be made by credit card online at kcfoundation.org, or by check to Kosciusko County Community Foundation, 102 E. Market St., Warsaw, IN 46580. Write “Tracey’s Trails” in the check’s memo line.
